| The Nilgiris, which literally translates into Blue, mountains are located in the Western Gnats, in Southern India. These picturesque range of high hills gets their name from a flower, the Neelakurinji (strobilanthes kunthiana). This unique shrub flowers once every 12 years covering the mountain slopes for miles around in a purplish blue carpet. Tea is grown on the Southern end of the Gnats on many picturesque estates which are draped all along the slopes at elevations of ranging between 5,000 and 6,500 ft above Sea level.
Leveraging the unique topography and climatic conditions which the Nilgiri Hills are naturally blessed with, we have affected a paradigm shift by going in for some very high quality manufacture of Green Tea on Coonoor Tea Estate which sits, enveloped in the clouds, atop a high ridge at an altitude of 6,500 ft..
The starting point for these simply wonderful Green Teas is a very fine plucking (only 1 & a bud is used), standard. The leaf is drawn from a dedicated patch of tea bushes which have all been cloned from one specially selected mother bush. This mother bush, after years of experimentation, was specially chosen for it's chunky leaf style and the distinctive bouquet and fragrance of it's liquor. It is these same special properties which this clonal area imparts to every single cup of tea produced from leaf plucked off these bushes.
The fine plucking followed by the most delicate and careful handling of the leaf, in the factory, enables us to offer these three individualistic grades of the finest Green Tea ever.
